Rock

I said I would forward pictures of my adopted dog when I got a chance – don’t know if this is the correct email address.  I adopted him in mid-January of this year from the Paulding County Animal Control - I think y’all named him “Rock” – I’ve named him Jeeves (after the P.G. Wodehouse character who was a butler/valet), and he learned his name quite quickly.  He proved to be house-trained, or at least, picked it up real quickly as he only had two accidents in the house.

He was listed as a “bite” dog, but he has been ridiculously gentle and sweet and gets along with my other black lab as well as my neighbors’ dogs and their children.  He loves people.

When I picked him up in mid-January, it turned out that he had tape worms, heart worms, and an upper respiratory infection – he weighed 72 lbs.  I fed him kibble and chicken soup with lots of potatoes for weeks to get some meat on him.  The vet wouldn’t treat him for heartworms at 72 lbs  - too skinny.

He’s perfectly healthy now and weighs 95 lbs (and he’s not fat at all).  I was somewhat apprehensive about him being listed as a “bite” dog, but it’s been unfounded.  He was a bit food aggressive at first (of course, he was stray and not used to regular meals), but he’s got over that – I completely trust him with me and around other people and dogs.  He is a gentle giant and a smart boy.

He LOVES to hunt squirrels – bolted over a 4 ft fence with one elegant leap to chase one and jumped right back over when I called him back.  He loves car rides and rides very well.  This summer I’ll take him to Lake Allatoona and see how he likes the water -  my other Lab loves it.  He’s been a good boy so far and a good companion for my other Lab.  He is a very sweet and gentle dog.

Regards, Erick

The Amazing Skidboot is the smartest dog you'll ever see. He gained worldwide fame with his tricks, but had to give up performing once he started going blind.
